It’s still summertime and what’s not to love; the heat, the humidity, the frizz? It can be hard to look summer chic when your hair is sticking to you like popsicle goop on your fingertips.

The fastest easiest and prettiest solution? A très hip messy bun (yes ladies, use the frizz).
GET THE LOOK
1. Texture: This look works best with some texture. If your hair is fine and limp, you can use a texturizing spray to add a bit more texture and volume. We recommend Dream Waves Beach Spray.
2. Shine: Run some gloss through your hair, just enough to control it, not to tame it. Try Moisture Gloss Diamond Shine Glosser which is super lightweight.
3. Pony: Pull it all up towards the top of your head towards the back. Use your fingers to keep the texture going. Once you have it in place, secure it with a covered hair elastic to create a high ponytail.
4. Bun: Start to twist hair loosely (the more you twist it the tighter/neater the bun will look). Super
fine haired girls – feel free to gently tease your pony first for a bit more volume. Once you have the thickness you’re happy with twist the hair around the base of the ponytail. Don’t worry about fly-aways since they actually work for this look. Bobby pin the bun in place making sure to hide the end of the tail beneath the bun.
5. Finish: Spray a bit of Pro Finish Hairspray into your palms and quickly smooth out the sides and top. Voila – finished! Look humidity in the eye and dare it to mess this up!
Brown is the second most common colour in our world, black being the most common. As the ‘midpoint’ colour on the spectrum it is perfect for highlights. It also reflects shine wonderfully when it is in good condition.

There are many shades under the umbrella of brown. From deepest brunette (which can look black from a distance), to dark brown, chocolate brown, chestnut brown, golden brown, ash brown, light brown and the list goes on. Within these browns are varying shades of dark to light, adding yet another layer of colour tonality.
The most important factor when considering your type of brunette is skin tone. There are two basic families of skin colour: cool or warm. Endless variations exist within these groups but these two are the foundation.
The foundation of a cool tone is pink. Some variations are:
HAIR COLOUR SUGGESTIONS: A sandy highlight on a medium brown; a rich coffee brunette; a neutral brown (stay away from ash); or any brunette with a bit of a wine, mahogany or burgundy undertone.
The foundation of a warm tone is yellow. Some variations are:
COLOUR SUGGESTIONS: Golden browns; brown with a slight red undercurrent; or chocolate and dark browns.

1. The idea is to enhance the good while minimizing anything that takes away from your beauty. A wrong choice of colour can drain skin or make it look too pink. A good salon will know the small things that take a colour from basic to individualized. For example, creating tiny highlights in the same colour family as the small flecks of colour in one’s eyes. Carefully placed highlights can make the eyes pop.
2. When choosing a style, there is no one better cut/style for a brunette, it is always the hair texture and/or face shape that are the strongest deciding factors when cutting hair.
Be sure to protect your rich colour and the condition of your hair with colour safe products. We recommend the Be Ageless Advanced Color Protect Anti-Aging collection.
