Oscar Hair: Scarlett Johansson – Casual but Balanced

1. This cut can work with many hair types shifting the layers depending on the fineness or thickness of the individual’s hair.

2. Blow dry loosely with a large round brush getting as much volume at the crown as possible. If you need extra volume, try adding some Instantly Thick™ Full Blow Out Lotion before drying.

3. Lightly spray all over with Pro Finish Ultimate Hold Hairspray and, using a large barrel curling iron, wrap the bottom half of hair loosely around the iron. You want only a soft bend so do not twist it too tightly. Curl hair alternating the direction of each section to keep the look natural in finish.

Oscar Hair: Sandra Bullock – Messy Bun

Her messy bun worked because it was not tight or overly contrived. She has left her hair natural with that great wave and then pulled it up for a very modern finish. Sandra has a face that looks best when we can see the shape and this look does that easily by framing it perfectly.

1. All hair types can wear this look however, straight hair works best when it is slightly curled to add a bit of texture. Blow dry with Strictly Curls™ Curl Booster to add some texture.

2. We suggest using a large barrel curling iron and haphazardly curling sections in opposite directions. The idea here is to build texture for the up-do so perfection is not necessary.

3. Once done gently and loosely pull hair back and place it in a ponytail at the occipital bone.

4. Softly twist hair into a messy bun and pin into place. The idea here is to not lose the naturalness of the overall look.

5. Finish with a good spray of Pro Finish Ultimate Hold Hairspray to keep it in place all night.

Oscar Hair: Reese Witherspoon – Bardot Starlet

Her high ponytail was very Bridget Bardot in feeling – it was so polished and elegant. This look is fresh and will carry its way into spring easily. Anything works for Reese but this in particular looks charming.

1. Anyone can wear this type of ponytail however, if your hair is super fine we suggest augmenting your look with a few extensions to add volume.

2. After blowing out your hair with Instantly Thick™ Full Blow Out Lotion, we suggest setting it with Velcro rollers to add tons of volume and movement.

3. Once the rollers have set for 15-20 minutes, brush them out with a natural bristle brush before putting it up.

4. Make a high ponytail at the crown area and wrap it with an elastic, keeping the front a bit loose on the top.

5. Once this is done wrap a one inch section of hair around it to not only hide the elastic but to add a bit of detailing to the overall look. By having the ponytail sit so high the sides of this will fall fuller and give it that fabulous 60s starlet vibe.

Oscar Hair: Anne Hathaway – Never Out of Style

A wonderful take on a classic. Haircuts may come and go but a good up-do never goes out of style. Anne has a face that can wear anything and this proves it. The bits that were left out at the front gave it a young look but the overall look was very grown up. The clean simple low bun wrapped and tucked into a half circle had a very 40s feeling to it. Her new highlights looked very natural and it was nice to see her colour a bit lighter.

1. This will work with all hair types. If your hair is curly it is important to blow it out smooth before beginning.

2. After blow drying this out, take various sized sections of hair and add some large hot rollers. Be sure to spray each section lightly with Pro Finish Ultimate Hold Hairspray before wrapping them around the rollers.

3. After removing the rollers brush it out with a paddle brush (spray the brush with a bit of hairspray if you do not want static).

4. Loosely, but neatly gather hair at the nape of the neck and wrap an elastic around it. Take a small section of hair and wrap it around the elastic so that it is hidden.

5. Pull a few tendrils out so that they frame the face and then roll up the `ponytail` in the back (have bobby pins at the ready).

6. You can roll up the pony around a couple of fingers then slide them out. Take the shape and `fan` it out in a half circle shape and begin to pin it into place. Be generous with the pins as half circles can slide about easily.

7. Finish with some hairspray to keep the look in place.

Oscar Hair: Cate Blanchett – Modern Bob

Cate’s cut was simply amazing. This was definitely a modern bob – simple and not too beveled. This is the future of shorter hair and is ahead of the fashion curve. It works for our Miss. Cate as it ends above her jaw line, highlighting those amazing cheekbones.

1. Most hair types can wear this. Thicker hair needs a flat iron to ensure it does not look overly bouffant.

2. We love that she just did a perfect blowout and left it at that. A blowout with a large round natural bristle brush and Instantly Thick™ Hair Thickening Cream is all this look needs. Maintain some body during the blowout to keep some movement.

3. If your hair tends to be flat, add some Velcro rollers for added lift at the roots.

4. Part your hair at the side for a flirty look. Once finished, add a touch of Marc Anthony`s Moisture Gloss™ Daily Drops for a bit of polish.

Oscar Hair: Celine Dion – Veronica Lake, Meet Victoria’s Secret

Celine arrived with shine, body and a very cool mix of Veronica Lake and Victoria’s Secret. Hair loosely wrapped around a large barrel curling iron has never looked so good – You go Miss `Canadienne`.

1. This look will work with any hair type, though you’ll need to avoid creating too much volume if you have thicker hair.

2. Use a round brush and Style Straight Blow Straight Potion to blow out your hair.

3. Once blown out use a large barrel curling iron, softly wrapping hair around the iron loosely. If your hair tends to be stubborn in holding a curl, pin the curls up to let them set – about 10-15 minutes.

4. Once curled and set remove the pins. You want to create a very relaxed finish that falls naturally so use a natural bristle brush to come this out.

5. Finish with a quick spray of Pro Finish Ultimate Hold Hairspray and Moisture Gloss™ Daily Drops to add shine and control any fly-aways.

Oscar Hair: Michelle Williams – Modern Pixie

This is the quintessential modern pixie cut, which never goes off trend. With this face anything works but this is a wonderful way to frame her face. If you wear your hair short making it too fussy can make you look older. Michelle kept it simple which is the best way to wear shorter hair and her side swept fringe really worked.

1. This cut works with fine to medium thick hair and less curl will make it easier to style.

2. A paddle brush is a simple tool that is easy to control as you do not want a lot of volume except for the crown area.

3. After blowing hair out with the paddle brush, add some Moisture Gloss Diamond Shine Finishing Glosser to control the sides keeping them smooth and tight to the head.

Oscar Hair: Mila Kunis – 30s Screen Siren

We loved Mila Kunis’ Red Carpet hair at the 83rd Annual Academy Awards. A few finger waves with a semi messy bun loosely pinned in the back to make it modern – it was a very current look at the 30s. This is a look that changes slightly each season so it continually evolves. Pulling hair back softly works for Mila as it shows off not only those fabulous eyes but her bone structure as well.

1. This look is suited for all hair types, though curly girls will have to blow hair out with a large round natural bristle brush first.

2. Once hair is blown out it is time to curl it with a medium sized curling iron. This is to help add movement which will be needed to form not only the bun but the waves along the sides.

3. Once curls are finished use a vent brush to relax the curls into waves.

4. Add a bit of a pomade-like product to the sides and ‘pinch’ them into waves.

5. We suggest using hair pins to hold waves in place so they can set slightly.

6. Loosely gather up hair at nape of your neck and begin pinning hair into a loose low bun. Most important is the shape you create, not where each curl sits.

7. Once you are happy with the shape and have secured it with bobby pins remove the clips, give it a quick spray with Pro Finish Ultimate Hold Hairspray and voila, modern 30s screen star.
